Baby Club Sing-Along

Once you've share the story, you'll probably want to sing the songs!
This is a lovely song to start off with.
You can add other actions if you like -
We added ‘'do an dance’ in our group and the little ones love to get up and hop around for that bit.

We also like to incorporate words from the languages spoken by families in our group. So, each day we pick a different one to sing. We mostly use the words for ‘'encore’ or ‘'again, again’ but you can use the words for ‘'hello’ or anything you choose.

Peek-a-Boo!

Peek-a-boo songs are great for babies who are just beginning to understand that even when they can't see something it's still there!
When we sing these songs with young babies, we use transparent scarves just so we don’t scare any little ones who are not quite ready for hiding yet. Once your baby is a little older and begins to enjoy hiding, you can use an opaque scarf, or baby’s blanket.

When I was asked to start a Baby Club, I realised that all of the baby songs I knew were in Irish, even though Irish has not been spoken as a first language in my family for many generations.
It struck me that we all learn baby songs in our first language – so I include this Irish one in our sessions to remind me.
It’s a really easy one to translate into other languages – we also sing it in French and Urdu!

When we do this song in our stripey top club, the children love to choose an animal from my box to hold. Then we go round in a circle and sing about each one.

For young children learning the names and sounds animals make, or those learning English, the physical toy animal makes a great connection to the word and the noise. Getting up and choosing an animal from the box also creates a little break to get up and move around.

If you’re singing it at home, you could take animals out of a box one by one with your toddler or just hold the animals in front of your baby while you sing.

When I was little, my granda used to sing 
'How Many Miles from this to Dublin'
and lift me high up  for the 'Giddy Up' moment!
This is a similar song and once children get familiar with this, they will LOVE the anticipation of waiting for the lift.
