Despite only publishing on April 4th, The Sleep Sheep is reprinting already. Nice reviews in the Bookseller, PW and Kirkus.
See, people think that being an "author' involves a lot of sitting around and thinking... but sometimes it just means 54 boxes of books on your stairs!
This is quite possibly the best review I've ever had - indulge me and click here to read in situ: The Reading Zone
This is from Willesden Bookshop in London - it's almost as good! Books for Keeps magazine have a brilliant new website - they've archived all the previous editions of the magazine and it will have author pages, news and forums for debating things.
It also has a whole spread about multi-cultural storytelling featuring Lulu and the multi-language CD. Log on and have a browse: http://www.booksforkeeps.co.uk/ Chicken House celebrated it's tenth birthday with a big breakfast in London on Friday last. Barry Cunningham gave a funny, inspirational and moving speech about Chicken House and Cornelia Funke read a passage from her new novel Reckless - not due for release until September 2010 - so we felt very privileged to be the first people in the world to hear it. Check it out on the Chicken House website.
I'm a big fan of Prospect magazine, and would recommend it to anyone, so I hope they don't mind that I scanned a cartoon from a recent issue which I thought my booky friends would enjoy:
Reading Shannon Hale's blog the other day I saw she recommends everyone to buy books - not just her books, but books you think your friends would like. I usually give books as gifts as Christmas, but thought it would be a nice idea if I too encouraged everyone I know to do the same.
No point in rewriting Shannon's comments - you can read them yourself on her blog. I know the conference happened a month ago, but I've just been sent a lovely photo by my good friend, Anne Sarrag of the Reading Agency.
Today was the official launch of Lulu Loves Stories with Daddy Day in Acton library. Lots of daddies came along (some of whom are regular visitors) as well as the usual loyal mums.
As you can see, we had a great time and lots of people bought books. |
